Quiar Birtok winery was founded by Tamás Sipőcz in 2015 fulfilling his dream.
Our aim is to handcraft top quality, organic wines to make our terroir known internationally.

We believe that to make high quality wines in only possible in an organic way, based on the local
tradition, but by using the latest technical and scientific results.

TERROIR

Balatonfőkajár, part of the Balatonfüred-Csopak Appellation, has a viticultural heritage dating back to the Romans. With its mild downhills and the special, metamorphic stone called quartzphyllite, the terroir has an unmistakable spicy, herbal taste with serious minerality and lots of fruit.

wine varieties

Olaszrizling
Welshriesling, the main variety around the Lake Balaton is our belief. It can produce light wines for social occasions and also very serious terroir wines thanks to its neutral character. We can show you both styles at our cellar. Our aim is to show the terroir characteristics in our wines, so besides the organic approach, in the cellar we do not use additives and we only ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. We do not use wooden barrels for white wines to be able to feel the fruit and the terroir in our wines.
KÉKFRANKOS
The terroir of Balatonfőkajár for the cultivation of this variety is exceptionnal, the grape is capable of producing high quality here and different wine styles, while at the same time it is able to perfectly convey the characteristics of the terroir. The winery's rosé, the fruity, amphora-aged terroir red, and our barrel-aged redwine is also made from blaufrankish. Our wines from this grape are reminiscent of fresh, fruity, cherry and delicately spicy notes. In addition to sound acids, it is characterized by moderately intense tannins.

Winetasting

Tast our wines at the place where they are born, in the 400 years old cellar of the Catholic Church of Veszprém.

Tast our wines at the place where they are born, in the 400 years old cellar of the Catholic Church of Veszprém.

Our winemaker will bring you to the vineyard where you can get acquainted with the licks of growing vines organically. In the cellar you will have a tasting with a minimum of five wines. You will get information of the different plots, varieties, winemaking techniques, the different types of containers for maturing wine and their effects on the wines. For the tasting you can ask for some snacks of handmade cheese and cold cutlets produced by local farmers.
